A POLAR BEAR IN A STROLLER
AND TONY DANZA!
I HAPPENED TO WALK BY BARNES & NOBLE AT THE EXACT TIME THAT TONY DANZA WAS SET TO TALK ABOUT HIS NEW BOOK.
WAIT: DID YOU KNOW THAT THE “WHO’S THE BOSS” STAR TAUGHT IN A PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL *AND* WROTE A BOOK ABOUT HIS YEAR AS A ROOKIE TEACHER?
AM I THE LAST TO KNOW THAT TONY DANZA DID TEACH FOR AMERICA?
NO MATTER HOW STUNT-Y THIS IS, WHAT A COOL USE OF TIME AND FAME.
GUESS WHAT ELSE? HE SEEMS TOTALLY LIKEABLE (JUST LIKE HIS CHARACTER ON THE SITCOM) AND LOOKS 35, NOT 62 (HIS REAL AGE).
He talked about how it’s really difficult to convince students to work hard and study when they go home and see Jersey Shore, and see other kids behaving like jackasses (my word) and making big bucks. Why try, they figure.
Also, he said there’s so much pressure in the educational community to “engage” students, so kids’ attitude toward teachers is “engage me.” He hung a sign in his classroom that said something like, “My education is my responsibility.”
IN CONCLUSION, HAVE NEVER TYPED THIS SENTENCE BEFORE BUT COOL THE WAY LIFE SURPRISES YOU: I WANT TO READ TONY DANZA’S BOOK!
