Me:
Hi! What's a "walking taco"?
Woman:
It's a layer of crushed Doritos or Fritos, a layer of taco meat, and it's all topped with lettuce and cheese.
Me:
Aha.
Woman:
Sometimes we put the whole thing in a Doritos bag and you eat right out of the bag. With a fork. Did you want one?
Me:
No, sorry. I just had to ask because I've never heard the term.
Woman:
Where are you from?
Me:
New York City.
Woman:
They don't have walking tacos there? I've never, in my entire life, heard anyone ask what a "walking taco" is.
Me:
We don't have them! I could see them becoming very popular in New York--of course, we'd probably put kimchi all over them.
Woman:
What's kimchi?

  2. bekaboo said: This made me laugh so hard! I’ve heard it called Frito Pie and Taco Salad, but never heard of eating it in the bag. We called them Texas Tacos at our house. Taco meat, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato & sour cream over tortilla chips. Yum!
