I saw this in Soho on my way to the 6 train, and asked the woman who was cleaning the statue if she was the artist.
She was!
Her name is Carole Feuerman and I’ve just learned that she’s my new favorite sculptor.
Carole is known for capturing “peaceful moments that are universally appealing,” according to the NYC Parks and Rec page. And she’s big into swimmers and bathers.
If you’re downtown anytime soon, do yourself a favor and stop by Spring and Lafayette. (Or, as I like to think of it, “the La Esquina corner.”)
